The Nigerian Senate had constituted an 18-member committee to oversee the activities of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), the Sole Administrator appointed to govern Rivers State under a six-month emergency rule. 
The committee is tasked with ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to constitutional provisions during the emergency administration in Rivers State.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio emphasized the urgency of the committee’s oversight functions to safeguard democratic norms and prevent potential abuse of power.
