Dr. Timileyin Oluseyi, a Nigerian-born physician, has achieved a historic milestone in the United States by winning all eight residency awards at his medical institution—a feat never before accomplished by any Black resident. The awards recognize excellence across clinical practice, leadership, academic performance, research, teaching, and bedside manner.
At the graduation ceremony, the program director and department chair paid homage to Dr. Oluseyi’s cultural roots by performing a traditional Yorùbá prostration—an act of deep respect that moved many in attendance. In a lighthearted gesture, colleagues presented him with a wheelbarrow to help “carry” his numerous plaques, underscoring the sheer scale of his accomplishment.
