The ECOWAS Court of Justice is holding its 2024 Judicial and Judges’ Retreats from 24 November to 1 December, 2024, in Niger State, Nigeria. This year’s retreat programmes aim to enhance the efficiency of the Court’s judicial processes, strengthen interdepartmental collaboration, and address key issues in the administration of justice.

The Judicial Retreat, themed “Judicial Case Management: Relationship Between the Office of the Honourable President, Honourable Judges, Registry Department and Legal Research & Documentation Department”, will explore modalities and best practices for harmonising and standardising the Court’s processes and procedures. The Judges’ Retreat will focus on various proposal documents and draft policies under the theme “Final Adoption of Draft Amendments to the Relevant Texts of the Court”.

The varied presentations and discussions aim to produce actionable recommendations to enhance the Court’s operations and delivery of justice.

The retreats which will be declared open by the Honourable President of the Court, Justice Ricardo Cláudio Monteiro Gonçalves, are annual activities of the Court that enable the Judges, Directors, and staff to explore pertinent issues to enhance the implementation of its mandate as the principal legal organ of the ECOWAS Community.
