Justice Obiora Egwatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order restraining Zamfara State House of Assembly from impeaching the State Deputy Gov. Alhaji Mahadi Aliyu Mohammed Gusau over his refusal to defect to All Progressives Congress (APC) along with governor Bello Matawalle.
The judge also stopped members of Zamfara state House of Assembly from taking any further step in the impeachment process targeted against the deputy governor over his refusal to dump People Democratic Party PDP .
Justice Egwatu issued the order on Monday in his ruling in an ex-parte application filed by PDP.
The court order emanated from an ex-parte motion filed and argued by Chief James Onoja Ogwu, on behalf of Alhaji Mahadi Aliyu Gusau .
After listened to the arguments of counsel the Judge ruled that the apprehension of the applicant in respect of the impeachment move was serious and justified his request for a restraining order.
The Judge further restrained the Chief Judge of Zamfara state from constituting any panel for the purpose of investigating the Deputy governor pending the determination of a motion on notice filed by PDP.
Other defendants in the matter are Independent National Electoral Commission INEC All Progressive Congress APC, Senate President, Speaker of House of Representatoves, Speaker of Zamfara House of Assembly and Governor Bello Matawalle.
