The Obidient Movement has dismissed claims that Peter Obi would abandon the Labour Party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stressing that he is not desperate to become president. The group said Obi’s primary concern remains good governance, poverty reduction, and national development.
National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, insisted that Obi will not be railroaded into any political decision without broad consultation. He described the ADC’s directive for opposition leaders to fully register as members ahead of 2027 as a unilateral shift from previously agreed coalition resolutions.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to equity and fairness, cautioning that Obi must consult his wide base before making decisions. It further stressed that attempts to stampede him into leaving Labour Party for ADC would be resisted, as his politics is rooted in principle rather than desperation.
