The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced a six-month domestic flight ban on legendary Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, following his alleged misconduct at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
During a press briefing on Thursday, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the development, asserting that no one is above aviation safety laws.
“The passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months from flying in Nigeria,” Achimugu stated, adding that aviation laws are internationally binding and must be respected by all, regardless of status.
The disciplinary action comes in the wake of a FAAN report alleging that Ayinde violated airport security protocols by attempting to board a flight with an undeclared liquid substance later confirmed to be alcohol and resisting multiple instructions from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel.
Achimugu also disclosed that the NCAA will be writing to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to initiate formal legal proceedings against the musician.
When asked whether K1’s close relationship with President Bola Tinubu could shield him from consequences, Achimugu responded firmly:
“President Tinubu and the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, are committed to upholding the rule of law. There will be no sacred cows.”
The incident, which occurred on August 5, 2025, has sparked widespread debate over celebrity conduct in public spaces and the enforcement of aviation regulations in Nigeria.
