Zulum leaves for pilgrimage , hands over govt affairs to his Deputy

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum has  officially handed over  power to his Deputy,  Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur to serve as Acting Governor. 

In an Executive Communication (Correspondence) read by the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly (BOSHA)  , Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan  at the floor of the house during an emergency  sitting  of the members on Friday said,” the Governor Zulum will be proceeding on one month vacation.” 

” The Communication  is in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). His Deputy, Umar Usman Kadafur will act as Governor on his behalf  from 10th June to 8th July, 2024.

” Borno State House of Assembly has received an Executive Communication informing the Members of handing over the affairs of activities of the Office of the Executive Governor of Borno State to the Deputy Governor”,  Lawan said.

He  added that the move is necessary to ensure the continuity of governance and smooth running of the affairs of the state in the absence of the Governor. 

Zulum  however commended the cordial working relationship between the  executive and the legislature  when he went to Saudia to  perform the annual Hajj exercise. 

The House Leader, Hon. Dige Muhammad , Member representing Kala Balge LGC  State Constituency moved a motion for the legislatures to proceed on a recess and return on 9th of July 2024, which was seconded by Hon. Yakubu Kimba, Member representing  Biu  LGC State Constituency of the State Assembly.
