The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Monday flagged off rehabilitation work on some road network in the territory beginning with Garki 11.

Speaking at the ceremony, Wike warned the staff of the Federal Capital Development Authority( FCDA )to wake up to their responsibilities, adding that they have to shape up or ship out.

In his words: “It is unfortunate, if FCDA can not arrange a functional microphone for a function, how can FCT work?”

He thanked Hon. Aliyu Betara, Chairman House Committee on FCT who was present at the ceremony and stressed the need for improved funding for the territory, just as the committee chairman assured of his support.

The Minister said he was informed that only N16bn was approved for road construction in the territory in this year’s budget, out of which only N1bn has so far been released.

Nevertheless, he promised the contractors that his administration would not owe them a dime for work done. He said however that he would not tolerate any variation in the cost of the rehabilitation work because everything has been taken care of.
