We remove e- naira speed wallet from google play store to perfect an upgrade , says CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has responded to criticism trailing the removal of e-naira speed wallet from Google play store.

CBN Director of Corporate Communications, Osita Nwanisobi, said the app was taken down to enable the bank  perfect an important upgrade.

Yet, he  blamed Nigerians for the sudden dissappearence of the app explaining that many people failed to enter their details correctly, leading to the glitch in the app.

The  eNaira speed wallet was taken down from the Google Play Store, 48 hours after the digital currency was launched on Monday, October 25,2021.
The bank took down the app after President Muhammadu Buhari launched it.
Amidst the backlash generated by the development, the CBN spokesperson has now explained that the disappearance is temporary and the app will be back once necessary updates are completed.

He gave the explanation on Thursday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital during the CBN Fair for the southeast geo-political zone.
On the expected time frame for the app to be back online, Nwanisobi said it shouldn’t take more than a few days.
