The United States Government has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Nigeria valued at $346 million, covering munitions, precision bombs, rockets, and related equipment.
According to the Defence Security Cooperation Agency’s statement dated August 13, the request includes 1,002 MK-82 general-purpose bombs, 5,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II rounds, and other guided bomb kits, fuzes, and support systems. The principal contractors are RTX Missiles and Defence, Lockheed Martin, and BAE Systems.
The agency said the deal will boost Nigeria’s capacity to tackle terrorist threats and illicit trafficking, particularly in the Gulf of Guinea, without altering the region’s military balance or affecting US defence readiness.
