Discussants at AIT morning programme on the arrest of a governorship aspirant Farah Dagogo on arrival at the venue of screening in Port Harcourt was politically motivated and unfair.
Prof Sam Amadi stated this when the participants on discussed the arrest of Dagogo. Dagogo was declared wanted by Governor Wike on Wednesday.
Prof Amadi said police must be professional and guaranteed fairness to all contestants in an election. It was unfair to prevent Dagogo from participating in the screening that was time bound over an allegation of a crime yet to be investigated, he said.
Prof Amadi called for an urgent intervention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who is monitoring the screening to ensure fairness and guarantee that no aspirant is denied screening by opposition politicians.
Rivers State Police Command on Thursday arrested the member of House of Representatives and 2023 governorship aspirant, Farah Dagogo who was declared wanted by Governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday.
Dagogo was said to have hired cultists to attack People Democratic party Secretariat in Port Harcourt.
But Dagogo went to Court on Wednesday and obtained a court injunction restraining the police from arresting him or preventing him from attending the screening.
