Trump brokers peace deal between Rwanda and DR Congo amid ongoing violence

US President Donald J. Trump, alongside the leaders of Rwanda and Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), signed a US‑brokered peace and economic deal aimed at ending decades‑long conflict in eastern Congo.

The agreement — finalised in Washington — includes commitments to troop withdrawal, disarmament of rebel groups, and a regional economic integration framework.

Despite the ceremony, violence continues in rebel‑controlled zones, raising doubts among observers about whether the accord will translate into actual peace on the ground.
