Troops killed 48 terrorists in several encounters this week, Says DHQ

…Arrest IPOB/ESN terrorists’ commander

The Defence Headquarters says on Thursday night that troops arrested not less than 48 terrorists between 2nd and 9th October, including a wanted IPOB/ESN terrorists’ commander identified as Uche Okafor (aka Whipper) .

Troops also neutralized scores of the terrorists in encounters across the theatres, rescued kidnapped victims and “recovered large quantities of various arms, such as automatic weapons, RPG tubes, machine guns, locally fabricated guns, and improvised explosive devices making material.”

They recovered some cache of live cartridges and assorted ammunition from the terrorists and criminals.

The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye who disclosed this in a statement said that 12 terrorists’ collaborators, informants and sympathisers were also arrested within the week.

According to him, “troops of the Armed Forces in conjunction with relevance security agencies actively engaged in series of operations designed to enhance national security, promote stability, and national interests both at home and abroad,”

He said the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI during the week sustained operational momentum by denying Boko Haram, ISWAP and JAS terrorists’ freedom of action in the region.

Fir instance between 3rd and 8th October 2025, troops conducted both kinetic and non-kinetic operations against terrorists in Bama, Damboa, Konduga, Gwoza, Ngala and Kukawa LGAs of Borno State.

They also conducted operations in Gombi and Tongo LGAs of Adamawa State and eliminated scores of terrorists during the encounters.

In related developments between 4 and 6 October 2025, “12 terrorists’ collaborators, informants and their sympathizers were arrested in Chibok and Gubio LGAs of Borno state as well as Mubi South and Geidam LGAs of Adamawa and Yobe States respectively”

” Logistics items, vehicles, drugs and large quantities of PMS were also recovered”

Equally, troops of OPFY sustained operational tempo throughout the week with significant activities. Including offensive operations in Chikun and Giwa LGAs of Kaduna State as well as Sakaba and Anka LGAs of Kebbi and Zamfara States.

They also conducted operations in Shinkafi and Malumfashi LGAs of Katsina State as well as Tangaza LGA of Sokoto State. Troops killed several terrorists and rescued 33 kidnapped victims.

On it’s own part, same offensive operations were conducted by troops of Joint Task Force North Central Operation ENDURING PEACE in Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Jos East LGAs of Plateau State as well as Lere, Jamaá and Zangon Kaaf LGAs of Kaduna State.

While troops of Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA conducted offensive operations in Oru West, Owerri West and Mbano LGAs of Imo State as well as Umuahia South LGA of Abia State. They neutralized a terrorist and arrested the wanted IPOB/ESN terrorists’ commanders identified as Uche Okafor (aka Whipper) and 4 others.
