… Had several encounters with terrorists in Zamfara,Sokoto, Kebbi, Yobe, Plateau, Kaduna States
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a Chinese national, five terrorists logistics suppliers and several collaborators during coordinated operations in Borno and Yobe States between June 5 and 7.
The arrests were made in Kukawa and Ngala Local Government Areas of Borno State and Geidam LGA of Yobe State, the Director of Defence Media Operation Major General Markus Kangye said on Friday.
According to the Director, the troops arrested the terrorists logistics suppliers ,collaborators and a Chinese national claiming to be a miner during well coordinated operations and recovered vehicle , motorcycle,mobile phones, Chinese International passport and the sum of N10,000 .00 was found with them.
The Defence Headquarters said all suspects including Chinese national are currently in custody for further investigation . Major General Kangye said that details of investigation findings including the specific roles being played by the arrested Chinese national in the area of troops operation would be unveiled by the investigations.
The military said the suspects are believed to have provided logistical and other forms of support to terrorists belonging to the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), the two major terrorist groups behind decades of insurgency in the Northeast.
The suspects arrests were part of a broader series of offensive operations carried out by troops between June 6 and 10 in Gwoza, Ngala, and Marte LGAs of Borno State, and Bade and Gujba LGAs of Yobe State.
During the operations, the military said, “troops killed several terrorists, rescued three kidnapped victims, and recovered arms, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), vehicles, motorcycles, and other equipment. Terrorist camps and facilities were also destroyed.”
General Kangye further disclosed that pressures during the combat operations, forced several terrorists including able men, women, and children to surrendered to Nigerian troops and other security forces between June 6 and 11 adding that military pressure forced many insurgents to abandon their locations.
In the North West and North Central zones of the country, troops of Operation Fasan Yamma and troops of Operation Safe Haven respectively carried out similar offensive operations against terrorists.
Troops of Fasan Yamma made contact with terrorists during fighting patrols conducted in Shinkafi, Maru, Tsafe and Zurmi LGAs of Zamfara State. Troops also had encounter with terrorists in Dan -Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State , where some terrorists were neutralized and two kidnapped victims rescued.
While in Malumfashi , Sabuwa and Kankara LGAs of Katsina State and Tangaza, Sabon Birni and Isa LGA of Sokoto State the had encounters with terrorists.
Similar but varying degrees of fighting with terrorists were recorded by troops in their operations in Kaduna North and Danko- Wasagu LGAs of Kaduna and Kebbi States within the weeks.
In the North Central Zone troops of Operation Safe Haven fought with terrorists, they referred to as extremists in Riyom and Bassa LGAs of Plateau State and Zangon Kataf LGA of Kaduna State.
Troops arrested three of the terrorists and rescued one kidnapped victim.They also recovered weapons and ammunition.
While on anti-kidnapping and anti-criminality operations, the troops responded to credible intelligence about criminal activities in Bassa, Mangu, Jos North, Riyom, Jos South and Bokkos LGAs of Plateau State between 6 – 9 June 2025. During the operations, some extremists were killed, while 4 kidnapped victims were rescued.
