President Bola Tinubu has sacked five ministers from his cabinet and relieved them of their appointments with immediate effect.
Those relieved of their ministerial post are Barr. Uju-Ken Ohenenye Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John Minister of Tourism, Prof Tahir Mamman
Minister of Education, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim Minister of Youth Development.
Their sacks was contained in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy on Wednesday.
The President also changed the nomenclature of the Ministry of Niger Delta, renaming it Ministry of Regional Development.
Recall that President Tinubu had threatened to sack some of his ministers found to have under performed in the last one year since the administration came on board.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday also scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.
“There will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission , North East Development Commission.
“The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports, Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, said in a statement.
He said the FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
“The decisions were taken Wednesday at the meeting of Federal Executive Council in Abuja,” said the statement.
