President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after participating in the Aqaba Process Heads of State and Government-level Meeting held in Rome, Italy.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the meeting focused on strengthening regional and international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, with particular emphasis on West Africa.
On the sidelines of the event, President Tinubu held bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, U.S. President Donald Trump’s Senior Adviser on Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, and Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, where discussions centred on security, investment, and religious harmony in Nigeria.
The Aqaba Process, launched in 2015 by King Abdullah II of Jordan, has held 33 meetings since inception and is built on prevention, coordination, and operational cooperation in counterterrorism.
