Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has directed all public and private secondary schools to immediately deboard their students following heightened security threats across the country. The directive, issued through Commissioner for Education Dr. Augustina Godwin, comes in response to recent student abductions in Kebbi and Niger states, which she said have made boarders more vulnerable.
Dr. Godwin explained that all secondary schools must now operate strictly as day schools until further notice. She noted that principals and school owners have been instructed to dismantle boarding facilities without delay, describing the move as a necessary and preventive measure to safeguard children from escalating attacks.
The state government reassured parents of its commitment to restoring safety, adding that security agencies are fully engaged. School authorities were also urged to comply with the directive and intensify surveillance within their premises to ensure students remain protected.
