Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of using proxies to defame and threaten her. This follows her earlier accusation of sexual harassment against Akpabio, which was dismissed by the Senate.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also alleges that Akpabio, alongside former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello and current Governor Usman Ododo, is plotting her assassination. In response, Akpabio and Bello have petitioned the police, demanding her prosecution for defamation and incitement.
Akpoti-Uduaghan insists her claims are sincere cries for help, not political gimmicks. Her suspension has sparked national protests, with women’s groups condemning her treatment as gender-based persecution. The police are yet to respond to the petitions.
