Nigerian striker, Ibrahim Sunusi, has set his sights on becoming the top scorer in the United States Major League Soccer next season.
Sunusi joined CF Montreal from Nasarawa United last summer and scored four goals in 24 appearances for the club and also featured in two matches as the club retained their Canadian Championship with a 1-0 win over Toronto FC in November.
Although he had a laboured start to the season, the 19-year-old, who joined the Canadian side with a huge reputation, having arrived as the top scorer in the Nigerian league, is confident his second season would be better.
“My first season in Nigeria, I did not score and then after that, I became top scorer. This one, I scored some goals, so, I know that next season will be much better,” he told ESPN.
“My goal next season will be to become the highest goals scorer in the league and to help my team win the MLS Cup title.
“I have learned a lot of things and experienced a lot of things. Next season will be different because now I know a lot more than I did when I first came in.”

Montreal missed out of the championship playoffs but Sunusi believes winning the Canadian Cup will spur them to do better and make the play-offs.
“Next season, we will correct our mistakes and it will be much better for us because most of our players are new and this is our first experience in the MLS. Now that we have got the experience and matured a bit, we will be a much better team.”
