…As there’s power in tongue
The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa has charged Nigerians to refrain from speaking evil against the country stressing that ” as African we know that there’s power in tongues”
The CDS gave this admonition on Tuesday in Abuja in his keynote address at one day seminar for Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria, DECAN. He charged Nigerians to begins to take responsible ownership of the country and begin to speak positively to charge the narrative.
He expressed regretted that other countries , unlike Nigeria, also face numerous challenges but never speak ill of the government.
He said , ” we have seen countries, most countries, it’s not like they don’t have issues but they don’t put their own problems in the forefront like we do.
“And that is what is affecting us as individuals, we must wish our country well and our leaders well. When they err, let us call them to question and proffer solutions.
“It’s not just negative criticisms. Everyday you are insulting and cursing. You are calling for God to punish them. No, you can’t kill your country because you feel that way. You don’t grow a country that way.”
On how much security threats have evolved globally, Gen. Musa said the deployment of non- Kinetic approaches has become more relevant in winning the “heart and minds of citizens.”
The CDS noted that non- kinetic approach has produced laudable results, while speaking on Seminar’s Theme: “Civi- Military Relations: Non-Kinetic Efforts of Nigerian Military In Security Management: Challenges And Prospects.”
Earlier, the Director Defence Media Operations , DMO, Major General Edward Buba and the Acting Director Defence Information,DDI, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau had called for whole national approach and constructive / patriotic engagement with government.
Major General Buba, specifically noted that in war every citizen has a role to play.
“When we talk about security of a nation there is a whole approach, society approach . When we put them together we will see that we all have a role to play,” he said.
