Speakers’ forum consoles Kogi Assembly over fire incident

The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria has commiserated with the Kogi State House of Assembly over the unfortunate fire incident that engulfed its complex last week.

This was contained in a media statement signed and made available to journalists in Bauchi late Monday night by Abdul Burra, the spokesperson of the chairman of the forum, Abubakar Suleiman.

The statement was entitled: ‘Speakers commiserate with Kogi Assembly over fire incident, call for investigation’.

According to Burra, in a sympathy message sent to the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Matthew Kolawole, on Monday, the forum’s chairman, who is also the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, expressed shock over the incident.

“He called on relevant authorities to launch an investigation to unravel the cause of the fire disaster with a view to forestalling its recurrence and prosecuting any culprits who may have been responsible.

“While sending the sympathy of the Conference of Speakers, the Chairman prayed against reoccurrence of the unfortunate incident,” he stated.
