Prof. Julius Ihonvbere – led screening committee report is in my favour – Agba

…Urges supporters to intensify the campaign and march to Osadebe Avenue

…Committee members have returned to their respective locations; there is no indication of any further committee to investigate the list he declared.

A frontline governorship aspirant in the Edo 2024 governorship elections, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (A.P.C), Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, on Monday [22nd January 2024] reassured his teeming supporters that their march to Osadebe Avenue [Guverbnet House] in Benin continued.

Agba, the immediate past minister of state for Budget and National Planning said in a message that was solemn, pacific, yet emphatic, which he personally signed, cleared the air on the speculation that Edo North senatorial zone had been screened out of the reach of the APC guber ticket.

The rumour mill has gone on overdrive in the Edo political space in the last twenty four (24) hours.

But Agba, while acknowledging the committee and the purpose of the committee which was primarily to prune down the number of aspirants from twenty nine (29) to six (6) using certain laid down criteria, made it clear that the outcome of the screening was in his favour, as he made the list of final six (6) aspirants approved by the committee, before the relocation of members of the committee back to their various destinations.

He further emphasised that zoning of the ticket was never in the conversation by the Edo state chapter of the party, which was reiterated in a follow-up meeting with APC’s NWC on Monday, 15th January 2024.

He said that while the Prof. Julius Ihonvbere-led committee members had returned to their respective locations, there was no indication of any further committee to investigate the list.

Agba, however, implored his teeming supporters to disregard any contrary news circulating and “stand steadfast in our shared commitment.”
