PROBE SECURITY CHALLENGES IN NIGERIA, GROUP URGES FG

A Civil Society Group has called on the Federal Government to investigate the security challenges bedeviling the country.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, the group Director, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, stated that the need to investigate became necessary following the recent attack on the Kuje Medium Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory.

Members of the Islamic States of West African Province had attacked the custodial centre on July 6, leading to the death of three terrorists, a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps official, and four inmates.

Also, during the attack, 879 inmates, including 69 terrorists, were freed, while a total of 443 were recaptured.

In the statement commemorating Africa Anti-Corruption Day, the group has tasked the FG with the need for a thorough investigation.

Reports however, revealed that the military authorities had commenced an investigation into the alleged negligence of its personnel during the attack.
