The Nigeria Police has commenced investigations into the tragic death of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a lawyer and news anchor working with Arise Television.
Federal Capital Territory Police Commands Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh announced this in a statement Tuesday, as Public outrage over Somtochulkwu continues.
The deceased was attacked in an armed robbery incident at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja in the early hours of Monday , September 29, 2025..
The incident has sent shockwaves across the media community and the nation at large.
Somtochukwu was widely recognized for her dedication to journalism, consistently delivering insightful news coverage with professionalism and integrity.

FCT Police Command described the attack as “a cruel and senseless act that has no place in a civilized society,” while the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ajao Adewale, ordered a discreet and comprehensive probe into the circumstances of her death.
“To this end, we have deployed intelligence and operational units to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime,” Adeh said.
She reassured the public that justice would be served and emphasized the police command’s unwavering commitment to public safety.
“We urge the public to support our efforts by providing any useful information that could aid the investigation,” she added.
The police also appealed for vigilance among residents, advising people to promptly report any suspicious activity to help prevent similar tragedies.
