The Police on Tuesday arraigned two men: Emeka Onyeabu, 27, and Ikechukwu Onuah, 32, before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing N100, 000 belonging to their employer.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, were charged on two counts of theft and conspiracy.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp E. O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the crimes on Oct. 16 at Geepee Company, Ota.
Adaraloye said the defendants, being staff of Geepee Company, stole N100, 000 belonging to one Omitola Saheed.
He said the offences contravened Sections 416 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mr O. O. Okiki, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
Okiki ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun government.
He adjourned the case until Nov. 13 for further hearing.
