Members of Nigeria’s Super Falcons paid a heartwarming visit to South African midfielder Gabriela Salgado at a local hospital on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, following her recent surgery. Salgado had sustained an injury during a pre-Olympic friendly and underwent a successful procedure last weekend.
Led by captain Onome Ebi and veteran forward Asisat Oshoala, the Falcons brought flowers and gifts, expressing solidarity and goodwill to their opponent. The visit highlighted the deep sense of sportsmanship between the two African football giants, even amidst fierce competition.
Salgado, visibly touched by the gesture, thanked the Nigerian players for their kindness. “It means so much to me. Moments like these remind us that football is truly a family,” she said from her hospital bed. Both teams are currently preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
