In continuation of his familiarization tour to the Services in the Ministry of Defence , the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence Mr Richard Pheelangwa visited the Chief of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke at the Nigerian Air Force headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
The Permanent Secretary informed that the visit was to establish a direct rapport between the Ministry of Defence and Nigerian Air Force with a view to strengthening institutional framework.
He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment towards supporting the Air Force to achieve its national goals of protecting lives of the citizens.
Furthermore, he commended the Chief of the Air Staff and his team for their professionalism and also acknowledged the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR whose strong commitment to national security continues to guide strategic direction of the Armed Forces.
In response, the Chief of Air Staff highlighted the need for timely approvals and releases of funds; acquisition of additional helicopters; adequate accommodation and infrastructure development, as service continues expanding.
He also stated thé need for regularization of teaching and hospital staff in Air Force schools and hospital facilities among others, as possible ways the Ministry could help boost the morale of the Air Force.
He however assures of the Air Force full cooperation with the Ministry for the attainment of the desired national goal.
Present at the event from the Ministry were; the Directors from the Ministry of Defence and Principal Staff Officers of the Air Force Headquarters .
