Members of the Board of Trustees of People Democratic party led by it’s Acting Chairman Adophus Wabara and Rivers State Governor Nysom Wike on Tuesday evening said that they have met over the impasses rocking the party and agreed to resolve it.
Board Chairman, Wabara who spoke first after the meeting noted that they were two sides to the dispute and that the members of the board of trustees are now well informed about the dispute.
He said the party is united and not divided adding that the differences will be resolved.
On his part, Wike who spoke after Wabara said he is not leaving the party and that PDP is one united entity.
There were about seven members of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party who met Wike at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, had on Saturday hinted that the crisis within the party would soon be resolved.
Okowa made this known in Abuja after a meeting with the Acting Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Adophus Wabara .
The emergency meeting convened by the Wabara-led BoT is part of efforts by the opposition party to pacify Wike and some aggrieved southern governors in the party.
The BoT delegation also aims to convince Wike and his allies to support the 2023 presidential ambition of the party’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, as campaigns for next February’s polls officially commence.
Wike and some PDP governors have been mounting pressure on the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to step down for a southerner.
The governors included Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).
