Paystack, the Nigerian fintech firm owned by Stripe, has suspended its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, following serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate.
The allegation began circulating widely on social media on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, prompting swift action from the company.
In an official statement released late Wednesday, Paystack confirmed Olubi’s suspension and announced the commencement of a formal investigation.
“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our co-founder, Ezra Olubi. We take matters of this nature extremely seriously,” the company said.
“Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation.”
Paystack added that it would not make additional comments until the investigation is concluded, citing the need to protect all parties involved and ensure the integrity of the process.
The renewed scrutiny on Olubi intensified after dozens of his old tweets resurfaced on Thursday. The decade-old posts—shared between 2009 and 2013—contained sexually explicit remarks about colleagues, inappropriate comments involving minors, and sexualised references to anime characters.
In one resurfaced tweet from 2011, Olubi joked about having an erection during a meeting. Another referenced a desire to secretly photograph a colleague’s thighs. Several others made disturbing remarks involving minors.
The screenshots spread rapidly across social media, sparking public outrage and growing calls for accountability.
