Party loyalists divided as PDP builds toilets with N12m realized from forms

The main opposition party has reportedly built three toilets with N12 million realized from sale of forms for the 2023 elections, Punch has revealed.

The shocking revelation has left party members divided as the contract was awarded to a national officer of the party.

Sources said that some deputy national chairmen of the party have been so angered by the development and wondered why such amount would be spent on three toilets.

A copy of the message complaining about the controversial contract and sourced from the WhatsApp group of Concerned PDP Vanguard for Change was obtained by The PUNCH in Abuja.

The message sent to stakeholders, NEC, BoT and all PDP caucuses was titled, “N12 million of struggling PDP members money from form sale spent on three toilets, making it N4 million (each) for one toilet.”

The message read, “Will you all keep quiet to (sic) this and other outright corruption, abuse of office, divide and rule in NWC by Senator ayu?

“The PDP we know under ex-President Obasanjo and Jonathan was a party that Ministers resign from corruption allegations; a party that the PDP Speaker Dimeji Bankole was in court for corruption under a PDP administration.

“The PDP as a party has zero tolerance to corruption, especially when it becomes public. The party had always been concerned about its public image.

“So what kind of PDP do we have now with Senator Ayu’s outright corruption and abuse of office being celebrated by the enemies of PDP and our Presidential candidate?

“Members want our presidential candidate to win. We have laboured too much for PDP to allow one man to come destroy the party and kill the moral of members for our presidential campaign.”
