The Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai Major General Wahidi Shaibu has said that impacts of troops operations in Borno,Yobe and some part of Adamawa states are yielding positive results as relative peace and stability are gradually returning to the states.

Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States have witnessed heavy activities of the Boko Haram / West African State Province terrorist insurgency that almost cripple economic and social activities in the last 14 years.

The Commander of Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai disclosed this on Tuesday in Maiduguri when Defence Correspondents on tour of military operations visited the Headquarters of the Theatre located in Maimalari Barracks, Maiduguri, Borno State Capital.

The evidences of the relative peace in Borno State abound, including the restoration of National Youth Service Corp scheme in Borno State after it was suspended for 12 years due to activities of Boko Haram insurgents.

“Provision of safe and secure environment leading to the resumption of NYSC orientation scheme which was hitherto suspended for over 12 years due to the activities of insurgents in Borno state,” he said.

He said Operation Hadin Kai and security agencies have also brought about a peaceful environment conducive for West African Examination Council, WAEC, to restore the conduct of its examinations in some local government Areas in Borno State hitherto impossible for the council to conduct it’s examinations.

“Resumption of WAEC activities in Banki and GWOZA areas where the exams could not hold for some time due to insecurity,” should be seen as a huge success, just as “the successful de-mining of KUMSHE area of explosive hazards.”

Stating that normal life including commercial businesses and night life are gradually coming back to Maiduguri, Major General Shaibu said that Maiduguri – Damaturu road has been cleared and is free from terrorist attacks.

He explained that the theatre some time placed restriction of movements along the road on earlier hours to enable troops clear the road of mines.

“The Theatre is also working in liaison with the Federal Government through the Borno State Government to resettle about 120,000 displaced person living in Cameroon back to the general area of GWOZA.

Additionally, he said he had directed the GOC 7/Commander Sector 1 to carry out a de-mining exercise at KUMSHE general area to ensure the area is cleared of explosive hazards in order to create safe and ease access for the proposed reconstruction work by the Borno State Government.
