Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, has handed over 59 kidnap victims that were rescued in Kaduna State to the State government for rehabilitation and reunite them with their families.
The NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu along with the national coordinator, National Counter -Terrorism Centre, NCTC, Major Gen. Adamu Laka and some top officials of NCTC, handed over the victims to officials of Kaduna State government.
The rescued victims were received at NCTC in Abuja on Tuesday by Mr. Sani Liman Kila, the Chief of Staff to Governor Uba Sani who led the Kaduna State government team.
The rescued victims are made up of 28 women, 24 men, and six children while one of them is hospitalized. They were abducted along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, specifically at Rina community and taken into captivity four months ago .
Addressing journalists after the brief hand over ceremony, Ribadu reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to rescue other victims who are still in captivity.
Recalled that a joint team of troops from the ongoing Operation Fansan Yanma (OPFY) and and ONSA have been raiding terrorist enclaves and kidnappers hide out in recent months.
Ribadu confirmed these efforts, as he disclosed that the abductors of the rescued victims abandoned them due to offensive operations of troops .He also said that no money was paid for their rescue.
According to him, “the operations was both kinetic and non-kinetic, requiring efforts from all, not just the military’s kinetic efforts,” adding that the result came from the combination of efforts by the military and other security services.
