Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the enlistment of 500 additional operatives into the Amotekun Corps as part of renewed efforts to reinforce security across the state. He announced the decision in Akure during the inauguration of a new set of Justices of the Peace.
The governor explained that the recruitment would help strengthen the state’s security framework, especially at a time some existing personnel have raised concerns over the lack of formal appointment letters since their engagement in 2020. Affected operatives, through their lawyer and activist Tope Temokun, had petitioned the government over the delay in regularising their status.
Aiyedatiwa also highlighted the revival of the Justice of the Peace office after a 17-year break, describing it as a step toward deepening community-based justice delivery. With 130 new JPs sworn in, he urged them to uphold fairness, integrity and service as they support peace, security and justice in their communities.
