Nollywood star and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has opened up about the foundation of her enduring 24-year marriage to her husband, Nnamdi Oboli.
Speaking during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the actress disclosed that their decision to rule out divorce from the onset played a major role in their marital success. According to her, this resolve was made even before they walked down the aisle.
“Being married for over 20 years starts with a decision,” she said. “We agreed that divorce would never be on the table, and that has shaped how we handle our challenges.”
Omoni shared that despite facing difficulties—especially in their first year of marriage—their firm commitment and willingness to forgive each other helped them stay together. She stressed that forgiveness is essential in any lasting relationship.
“There’s hardly anything someone does that can’t be forgiven, if you choose to forgive. We all make mistakes,” she added.
Recalling their love story, Omoni revealed it was far from typical—Nnamdi proposed just two weeks after they met, and they tied the knot only four months later. Though unsure at first, she was moved by how deeply he loved her.
On his part, Nnamdi Oboli encouraged younger couples to embrace accountability in marriage. He emphasized that success in marriage depends on effort from both partners.
“Marriage is not something that just happens to you. You are the relationship—it’s your responsibility to make it work,” he said.
