A chieftain of Labour Party in Delta State Dr Augustine Ojogbo has called for reorganisation of Nigerian National Petrolum Corporation, NNPC, by refocusing it to its primary aims and responsibilities.
The idea of NNPC wanting to become a distributor to Dangote and sell petrol to Nigerians is unacceptable, Dr Ojogbo stated while speaking with news men at Asaba.
According to him NNPC should repair the four refineries owned by the federal government and produce more petrol for Nigerians and end fuel importation.
Dr Ojogbo a retired Delta State Chief Veterinary Consultant and Director Veterinary Services who was the LP flag bearer for Aniocha North Local Government chairmanship election said NNPC should allow Dangote to sell it’s fuel directly to the marketers to reduce petrol price.
He commended the federal government for granting licences for the establishment of modula refineries and granting local government autonomy.
The LP chieftain however called on the federal government to fast track the implementation of the local government full autonomy as well as the independent candidates for all elections and sign the bill on the creation of local government electoral commission when presented to the president for his ascent.
Dr Ojogbo said some stakeholders had continued to mount pressure on the National Assembly to quicken the processes of passage of the bills on local government electoral commission and independent candidates.
He praised President Tinubu for his leadership style and body language in resonating the issues on state creation, local government electoral commission and independent candidates in all elections.
Dr Ojogbo expressed support to the removal of fuel subsidy as it had become a drain pipe through which individuals and corporate organizations massively defrauded the country through the payment of subsidies on petrol not delivered in connivance with NNPC and leadership of the previous administrations.
He appealed to President Tinubu not to succumb to undue pressure from the subsidy fraud stars by setting up a committee to redefine the existing subsidy removal implementation.
On the issue of 18 years to write WAEC or enter university, he advised the federal government to jettison the idea and allow the children to excel at their pace academically, adding that the idea is retrogressive and satanic.
Dr Ojogbo stated that the leadership crisis in the LP would be resolved amicably in no distant time and called on parties to the crisis to embrace peace in the interest of the party.
On the local government elections held in Delta State, Dr Ojogbo said LP and its leadership had learnt their lessons and were restrategising with a view to win elections at all levels by the strong will of the people through the Grace of Almighty God.
