Obi sweeps polls in Enugu State, denies other parties 25 per cent of the votes cast

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally declared the candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, as the winner of the presidential election in Enugu state.

Obi defeated candidates of other political parties in all the 17 local government areas of the state.

The Enugu State Collation Officer, Professor Ofo Iweh, announced the results on Monday at INEC headquarters in Enugu

Obi scored 428,640 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who secured 15,747 votes.

He said APC scored 4,772 votes while APGA scored 1,548 votes and NNPP scored 1,808 votes.

Prof Iweh also announced that the total number of votes cast was 468,891 while total valid votes were 456,424 while rejected votes were 12, 467.
