Obi Open to One-Term Presidency Under Coalition Pact

In a move aimed at fostering national unity and political stability, former presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed willingness to serve only a single term if chosen as the consensus candidate of a coalition for the 2027 presidential election. Obi emphasized that his priority is good governance, not personal ambition.

Speaking during a political dialogue on national rebuilding, Obi said he is open to stepping aside after four years if it helps consolidate a broad-based alliance committed to transparency, development, and economic recovery. “If the agreement is for a single term to lay the foundation for a new Nigeria, I am ready,” he stated.

Political analysts believe Obi’s stance could be a game-changer, especially as discussions intensify among opposition parties for a united front ahead of the next general elections. His offer may attract undecided blocs seeking leadership with integrity and a transitional vision.
