Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu, has publicly commended President Bola Tinubu for halting the recent sealing of business and political properties in Abuja, including the PDP National Secretariat, over unpaid ground rents.
The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA), led by Minister Nyesom Wike, had on May 26 carried out the enforcement, targeting various institutions such as banks, filling stations, the FIRS office, and others — citing unpaid rents amounting to billions of naira.
However, following widespread outrage and criticism from both the public and political stakeholders, President Tinubu intervened, ordering a temporary suspension of the action and granting a 14-day grace period for affected parties to settle their debts.
Momodu, reacting on Instagram from the U.S., hailed the President’s move as a sign of firm leadership and a timely check on Wike’s perceived excesses.
“We used to think we have two presidents in Nigeria — Tinubu and Wike. Now we know Wike has a boss,” Momodu wrote, accusing Wike of overreaching his powers and running the FCT like a personal fiefdom.
He further urged Tinubu to curb Wike’s political interference in Rivers State, where Wike remains embroiled in a long-standing conflict with Governor Sim Fubara. Momodu described Wike’s behavior as “vindictive and disruptive,” and praised Tinubu’s decisive action as a signal that no one is above the President’s authority.
“There can’t be two captains in one ship,” Momodu emphasized. “I hope Wike got that message loud and clear.”
