Newly elected Chairman of the People’s Democratic party (PDP), Vena Ikem on Wednesday said his administration will be guided on the principle of free, fair and credible elections in the State.
“We will do everything to further democratized the party so that no candidate is imposed on the party, we will provide a level playing field for everyone”
Mr. Ikem, who is the former National Publicity Secretary of PDP, stated this at the PDP Secretariate after taking oath of office as State party Chaiman.
He thanked the Caretaker Committee Chairman and former deputy Governor Effiok Cobhom for stearing the party to an enviable height.
According to the PDP chairman, expectations are high on the exco and promised that he will do his best not to disappoint the party.
Earlier the former Governor Donald Duke advised the state’s Executive Committee of PDP to think outside the box to grow the party.
Duke said “We have not been in this dilemma before, we are engaging the governors of South South ,we are hoping that the will carry us along”
He charged the new executive of the party to carry everybody along, saying that in the next few weeks when the by-election will be conducted that will be their first test
He also advised that the party should not take it for granted that Cross River State is a PDP State because according to him executive Powers matters.
