Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended the indefinite nationwide strike embarked upon on Tuesday.
The Unions suspended the strike late Wednesday November 15, 2023 after a joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held last night in Abuja.
The NEC meeting itself came on the
heels of a meeting of Labour leaders
with the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu where the grievance of workers over the brutalized NLC President Joe Ajaero was said to have been addressed.
According to the meeting, investigation ordered by the Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun into the ugly incident that occurred in Owerri, Imo State capital on November 1, 2023 has been taken over by the office of the National Security Adviser.
The government has accepted to carry out a thorough probe of the incident and to punish policemen and agents of Imo State government who brutalized Joe Ajaero .
