Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have arrested and detained a suspected Nigerien terrorist attempting to breach a security cordon in Yobe State North East part of the country.
The suspect’s inability to speak any Nigerian language has heightened suspicions of involvement of foreigners and International connections in the ongoing insurgency and prompting further investigation.
The army also neutralized numerous terrorists, apprehended others, and rescued victims across multiplex operational theaters.
A reliable source disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that the operation in Yobe was executed by the 120 Task Force Battalion in Katarko, Gujba Local Government Area.
In Borno State, an adult female and a child, identified as relatives of terrorists, surrendered to the 202 Battalion in Bama after escaping from the Churchur axis, signaling increasing pressure on insurgent strongholds.
In Sokoto State, troops from the 8 Division Garrison engaged and killed two armed individuals in a fierce firefight in Tsamaye and Mai Lalle, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, recovering three AK-47 rifles and a motorcycle.
In Kebbi State, the 1 Battalion Rear thwarted a cattle rustling attempt in Sauna Village, Argungu Local Government Area, recovering 251 cows abandoned by the fleeing rustlers and returning them to their owners.
In Ondo State, troops from the 323 Artillery Regiment in Igbara-Oke, Ifedore Local Government Area, intercepted two suspected gunrunners attempting to procure firearms. The suspects were allegedly acting on instructions from an inmate at Kirikiri Correctional Facility in Lagos, orchestrating the deal to support criminal activities in Zamfara.
In Delta State, troops uncovered a tricycle carrying approximately 200 liters of suspected illegally refined diesel along the Jeddo–Omadino axis in Warri South Local Government Area. Additionally, a separate operation in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, led to the arrest of seven suspects from a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout, with a motorcycle, four mobile phones, and other items recovered.
The military source reaffirmed the army’s dedication to ensuring internal security and public safety, emphasizing that operational intensity will remain elevated.
