Nigerian soldiers still in Burkina Faso after forced aircraft landing — Tuggar

Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, has confirmed that the soldiers aboard a military aircraft that was forced to land in Burkina Faso remain in the country. Tuggar disclosed this on Thursday at the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja during a joint press briefing with Beninese foreign minister, Olushegun Bakari.

Responding to a question from TheCable, Tuggar explained that the incident is being handled through diplomatic channels and assured that the Nigerian government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of the personnel involved.

The minister added that discussions are ongoing with Burkinabe authorities as Nigeria seeks a swift and peaceful resolution to the matter.
