Nigerian Army gets a Female Acting Spokesperson

…Redeploys Major General Nwachukwu

The Nigerian Army has appointed a female military officer as Acting Director, Army Public Relations. She is Lieutenant Colonel Anele Onyinyechi Appolonia the first female Army officer to hold the post of Nigerian army spokesperson.

Though, Lieutenant Colonel Anele Onyinyechi Appolonia’s appointment has gone viral, it is expected that Lt. Col Appolonia would be unveiled on Tuesday next week to the public when she resume duty.

The new Acting Nigerian Army Spokesperson, Lt.Col. Anele Appolonia will takes over from the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu who has been posted to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre.

Anele, is a member of Direct Regular Course 15 of Nigerian Defence Academy ,NDA, and Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). Until her new role, she worked with the Department of Civil-Military Relations.

She previously served as Public Relations Officer in the Office of the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS). Lt. General Tukur Buratai (Rtd) ..She recently completed a six-month strategic course at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre and was subsequently posted to the Department of Civil-Military Relations.

No doubt her appointment marks a significant milestone in the history of the Nigerian military, reflecting a growing commitment to gender inclusion and professionalism within the armed forces at time of multiple security challenges.
