Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, is set to return to the National Assembly later this month following the expiration of her six-month suspension.
Her lawyer, Victor Giwa, confirmed she is currently in London but has made arrangements to resume when the Senate reconvenes on September 23. He assured there would be no obstacles, noting that the Senate leadership was prepared to welcome her back.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6 over allegations of insubordination after rejecting a seat change in plenary. She claimed her suspension was linked to her petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment—a claim dismissed by the Senate. Despite securing a court ruling in her favour, the leadership insisted she serve the full penalty.
Her attempt to return in July ended in a standoff, as security operatives barred her from entering the chambers. With the suspension now expired, her lawyer stressed that ongoing legal disputes “will become an academic exercise.”
