Napoli set to offer Osimhen new contract

Napoli have set plans in motion for the renewal of the contract of Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Naples-based club have been very impressed with the performance of the 22-year-old and are hoping to extend his contract which runs out in 2025.

Osimhen had joined Napoli from French Ligue 1 side, Lille, for an African record fee of €81m on July 31, 2020 after an impressive season.

While his first season in Italy came with injury worries and COVID-19, the Eagles striker has hit the ground running in the 2021/22 season, scoring nine goals in 13 appearances for Napoli.

“In the summer of 2020, Napoli paid Lille €60 for his services, the most expensive invention in the history of the club. But that market price is now about to double. His contract with Napoli (salary of 4.5 million per season) runs until 2025: work is underway to extend it,” Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote.
