NAOWA begins 3-day empowerment training for members in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) and Nigerian Army Soldiers Wives Association (NASWA), have organised a three-day empowerment training for 150 women members of the associations in Kaduna.

The NAOWA Chairperson, 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna, Hajiya Maimunatu Ali-Keffi declared the training opened on Wednesday at 2 Battalion, Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna.

She said the empowerment training is being supported by the National President of NAOWA, Hajiya Salamatu Yahaya.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 150 women are being trained in custard making, organic soap making, tie and dye, rice flour and others.

She said it was to make the beneficiaries self reliant, stronger and more confident.

According to her, in today’s world most women depend on their husbands, brothers, sons, or other men to do everything for them.

“Many women have dreams that are not actualised due to lack of education, money, support, discipline, and courage.

“Many women die without ever actualising their dreams in life, or they become helpless if they lose their husband or the person they are depending on,’’ she added.

She said that for a woman to be able to excel in life, she must be disciplined but above all educated, with confidence in her worth.

She added that the empowerment is to give them the platform to learn and to be creative in ways and areas that gives them the opportunity to make income to support yourself and your family.

“Also, the training is to make ways for proper nurturing, polishing, and sharpening of whatever skills you have through better education, awareness, and to give you a space upon completion of your training where you can freely express yourself in anything that you chose to do.”

She informed them that empowerment would give them economic independence for the benefits of their household and society, as well as reduce poverty.

Ali-Keffi advised them to seize opportunities to learn things that would benefit them emotionally, spiritually, and financially.

“Success is also not determined by the money you are getting but in your ability to transform something small into something big.”

She urged them to spend wisely and learn to invest, use their womanly intuition to get to the next level.

“Be prepared, and grab your opportunity, because opportunity does not waste time with people who are not prepared,’’ Ali-Keffi said.
