Foremost aspirant for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Edo State Governorship primary , Prince Clem Ikanade Agba said his ‘Trust Initiatives Agenda’ will transform urban and rural areas of Edo State and arrest the rural /urban drift in the state.
Prince Agba, the immediate past Minister of State for Budget and National Planning stated this on Monday at “AIT Kakaaki programme ; Edo State Governorship APC primary. ” He said he is bringing the Trust Initiatives to the table when he is elected the governor of the state.
He said TRUST Initiative will entail transforming Edo State Rural and Urban areas together. And what that means is that simultaneously work in the urban areas and Rural areas would be at same time.
Agba said that urban slums in the state are being fueled by the drift particularly the energetic youths from rural areas to cities. Rapid rural infrastructural development would encourage the youths to earn decent living, where there are access roads ,health care centres , educational and employment opportunities.
On the forthcoming primary of the APC and the insinuation that the governorship position would be zoned. Agba said that he believed in the party Constitution and it has no provision for zoning.
In any case, he stressed, our party, the APC is in opposition in Edo state so, “we should put forward the best candidate who will give the party an advantage in winning the governorship election in the state.” He said he is the best among the aspirants with vast experiences that would ensure the party triumph over the opposition.
Besides, he said that Edo North Zone is an APC dominated zone in term of membership and it is fitting the zone produce the governorship candidate.
He said that the argument in certain quarters that Edo North Senatorial district had had it chance with a serving minister, negates equity because Edo South had in the past produced four governors and three ministers, Edo Central two governors and five ministers while Edo North had produced just one governor and two ministers.
Agba said that he belongs to the three zones, as he was born in Edo North ,married to an Edo Central and school in Edo South adding that he has no reason to neglect any part of the state as a governor.
