Nigerian Armed Forces is poised to deploy more new platforms and combat enablers in the North East theatre to enhance troops operations and defeat insurgents .
This is coming. in response to the reinsurgence of terrorists’ attacks in the past few weeks in a zone that is gradually returning to peace but suddenly began to witness unsuspected attacks in almost all fronts including Maiduguri the Borno State Capital.
Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa said on Thursday “We will inject more platforms and combat enablers into the theatre to enhance troops’ operations,”
He gave the assurance during an operational visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri. General Musa on Thursday.
He was accompanied on the visit by Principal Staff Officers from Defence and services headquarters to the Theatre Command and the scene of an explosion at Giwa Barracks.
The CDS hinted the troops that military authority has resolve to boost its fighting capability and defeat the insurgents. He said this after he received a brief on the operational activities across the Theatre Command in Maiduguri Borno State Capital,
General Musa reiterated the military’s resolve to defeat the insurgents and charged officers and men to be more aggressive against Boko Haram terrorists.
He reaffirmed the military’s unwavering commitment to bringing an end to the insurgency in North-East Nigeria.
An observer noted that CDS’s visit underscored the military’s commitment to jointness and teamwork in tackling insurgency.
At the barracks, General Musa commended the Explosive Ordinance Disposal personnel for their efforts in making the area safe and assured them of the support needed to carry out their activities. “We appreciate your efforts and assure you of our support,”
A statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, following the visit quoted the Nigeria’s Military Chief, stressing that more combat enablers and troops will be injected into the theatre to boost ongoing operations.
The Theatre Commander OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar commended the CDS for the visit , acknowledging that it speaks volumes about the high premium placed on Operation HADIN KAI as well as a moral booster to the troops of the Command.
He said CDS’s assurance and directives have boosted the morale of troops, who remain resolute in their mission to restore peace and security in the region.
