Maryam Sanda’s Father-in-law Says He Sought Clemency Since 2019

Ahmed Isa Bello, father-in-law of Maryam Sanda, says he sought clemency for her years before President Bola Tinubu granted a presidential pardon.

Bello revealed that he had written to former attorney-general Abubakar Malami in 2019, asking for mercy on humanitarian grounds.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Bello described the pardon as “the will of God” and an act of mercy that allows Sanda to care for her two children.

He added that he had forgiven her completely, saying vengeance could not bring back his son but forgiveness brings peace.
