Marte Chairman urges military, state government to liberate Kirnewa town

…Applauds UNICEF, MUNCLUB International in New Marte

The  Vice Chairman of Marte LGC of Borno State, Alhaji Mustapha Mohamed has appealed to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’ of Borno state to impress  on the Nigerian Military and Multi Joint National Task Force M JTF to liberated Kirnewa town of Marte LGC to embale the residents of the area  return to ancestral home to continue with their normal life.

He also called on all Indigenes of Marte LGA to return home as peace has finally returned to the LGA and normal socio economic activities have picked up with the support and efforts of the nilita y and other security agencies like the CJTF, police, NSCDC, vigilante hunters, etc and return to their normal  occupation of farming, fishing and grazing of livestock.

The Vice Chairman who  stated this on Tuesday in New Marte with speaking to journalists at the former stronghold of Boko Haram insurgents  also urged the state government and military to intensify security in the area to.enable  the returnee IDPs to engage themselves in their normal farming, fishing and livestock  activities to feed themselves, cultivated and  and have something doing .

Mustapha further commended Governor Zulum for the support he has rendered to the people and government of Marte LGA while appreciating his efforts and concern for the return of the IDPs and distribution of food and non food items to the resettled IDPs from Maiduguri, Gunio, Shuwari and  Monguno.

He added that the LGC Executive Chairman , Hon. Babagana Abatcha Marte has been making concerted efforts for quick and smooth return of Ala village IDPs and other villages providing them with biulding materials and others while calling on the state government to continue to support and asist the government and people of Marte with livelihood support for the purpose of  sustainability.

The Vice Chairman however appreciated the health and environmental  sanitation services and assistance humanitarian partners like MUNCLUB International is rendering to the children and women of New Marte with the support of UNICEF since 2023 to May 2024  carrying our malnutrition Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), Moderate Acute Malnutrition  (MAM) and Global Green Moderate treatment  for children of 0-13.

He thanked Ambassador Ahmed Baba  Jidda, Sen. M.T. Monguno, Hon. Bukar Talba, BOSHA member, the military, community and religious as well as traditional leaders for their support while assuring continous peace and harmony in the area. While appreciating UNICEF and MUNCLUB International for their interventions in health and water problems.

 He said they  drilled  boreholes, reactivated grounded boreholes, and overhead tanks in IDPs camps and host community ,  treated and controlled cholera, Measles,  open defection, filled latrines,  environmental sanitation, malnutrition  children  with severe and acute cases and Malatia among others.
